The Phoenix is one of the more prominent mythological creatures in modern society. It has made appearances in movies such as Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe. The Phoenix has many forms, many looks, and many myths. In different society's, it is known by other names. A magnificent creature, the many myths of this rare being are spread throughout the world.

One might wonder just what are the other names the Phoenix is known by. The "Phoenix", as most Americans know it, comes from the Arabian myths. Many Native Americans refer to it as the "Thunderbird" or "Yel", and Russian mythology refers to it as the "Firebird". Egyptians take on it is slightly different, referring to their mythological bird, as the "Bennu", or "Benu". The Chinese have their "FĂȘng-Huang", and the Japanese, "Ho-oo". In all cases, the Phoenix is a largely respected and honored creature with a long lifespan and various properties, and usually associated in some way with the Sun.
